Eastern Style Purling

To go along with my post about Eastern-style knitting, here is how I purl eastern style. Note that the yarn never has to go in front of the left-hand needle.

Great videos! Very similar, I think, to combination continental knitting (which is what I’ve evolved to) The only difference is that you approach your stitch from the back, whereas I’m knitting through the back loop, through the front, but with the stitches mounted so that the leading edge is in back. Works for me! I may try your way, just for comparision! Anything which increases our armementarium is great!

Since Combination knitting is a “combination” of Eastern and Western knitting, it makes sense that they’re similar. :)

I’ve tried combination, but I found the whole twisting/untwisting thing, and having to knit differently flat and in the round were just too fidly for me. I learned to knit Eastern style when I was little, and I ended up going back to it pretty quickly.
